3-Ingredient Protein Bagels

Let’s be real.. there’s no better start to your morning than a fresh, warm bagel. But traditional bagels (even gluten-free ones) often come loaded with refined flours, added sugars, and a surprisingly long list of ingredients that you can’t pronounce. That’s why I started making these 3-ingredient gluten-free bagels, and now I’ll never go back.

This recipe is so easy and the bagels are so so delicious. I was initially inspired by the 3-ingredient protein bagel trend that was lighting up my instagram reels. I adapted the recipe to be gluten free in order to share with my sister, and if you ask me, that is where this recipe really excels. Not only is this recipe simpler and healthier than store-bought gluten-free bagels but it also tastes so much better! The bagels are fluffy, moist, and even have good flavor. If you are gluten-free this recipe is a MUST.

Even as a glutenous eater, I still love these bagels. They may not be a perfect replacement for your bakery style bagel but I can feel good knowing what’s in them, and can start my morning with a little extra protein. I highly recommend you give this recipe a try!

The Health Benefits

  • More Protein: Thanks to the Greek yogurt, these bagels pack a protein punch, helping keep you fuller longer.
  • Gut-Friendly: The live cultures in Greek yogurt support healthy digestion.
  • Lower in Carbs & Calories: With no added sugars or refined flours, these are a much lighter option than their store-bought counterparts.
  • Blood Sugar Regulation: The Greek yogurt helps slow digestion and helps reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes. However, the effects of this are dependent on the gluten-free flour blend you use. Pair your bagel with healthy fats to help with this!

3 Ingredient Protein Bagels

Start your morning right!

4 servings

45 minutes

Ingredients

1 1/4 cup measure for measure gluten-free flour

1 cup plain greek yogurt

2 tsp baking powder

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare a baking sheet.

2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a wooden spoon

3. Kneed into a ball and then divide into 4 smaller balls. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour. If too dry, add a little more yogurt.

4. Shape each ball into a bagel and place it onto the baking sheet. I like to roll a piece of parchment paper and insert it into the bagel’s hole to keep it from closing while it bakes.

5. Brush each bagel with an egg wash and top with your choice of seasoning.

6. Bake for 20 min at 375°F and then for an additional 5 min at 400°F.

7. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
